  • That’s true, 2000px seems really big. You could manually upload the large picture and create your own thumbnail and then upload that and use HTML code to ref it. Just a suggestion since the size of the picture might be the problem. Did you use such large pictures before with wordpress?

    It looks like the button didn’t materialize, just a long long long paypal URL appears. Copy the paypal button picture and save it as a jpg, or whatever and then use that real long URL as a link to the button picture so that when they click the picture it goes to the paypal URL. How do you get a paypal donate button anyway? πŸ˜€

    You know, whooami, this is brilliant? No, seriously when I saw this I first just rolled my eyes and grumbled that I know how to upload things since I’ve had websites and FTP clients since the 1990s, i.e. the Jurassic age of the internet. But I’ve never used Filezilla.

    I’d been having the same problem as saintlyone, but only recently. Stuff I was uploading after the automatic update plug-in simply was not showing up on my plug-in screen. However, for the heck of it, I downloaded Filezilla. I deleted the plug-ins on my site that weren’t showing up and reuploaded them again using Filezilla and to my tongue-swallowing surprise, they showed up! I activated the yacaptcha plug-in and it works wonderfully with WP 2.6 and I can have comments on my WordPress again without the tons of spam!

    So thank you very much whooami, because as bad and disappointing as yesterday was, that’s how great today has been because of your suggestion. πŸ™‚

    Here’s another update, which I guess won’t be noticed, but hey, I’ll keep plugging away (no pun intended) I also get a 500 internal server error. I’m guessing the real problem/culprit is the 2.6 upgrade. My categories disappeared, which has no connection to the plug-in. People can’t register because now the mail doesn’t work and send out passwords. I backed up all my data for the version I had before this. I guess I’ll downgrade. Is 2.6 kind of the Vista of Word Press?

    An update of sorts, I just decided to go ahead and put the code in the comments.php. Well, the comment box appears with the box above it that asks for the code. The picture of the captcha code doesn’t appear. I get a red x instead. It scarcely matter because I was about to post anyone with a new registration I made up.

    I go into settings/mycaptcha and the examples show up fine. But when I get the red x, I did a “properties” check on it and this is what it showed:

    http://mysite.net/blog/wp-content/plugins/mycaptcha/php/crypt/cryptographp.php?cfg=0&

    Do I need to CHMOD something? Did I upload something in ASCHII that should’ve been binary, or vice versa?

    Anyone? Anyone? πŸ˜‰

    When I had my initial problem and went around re-uploading everything, then I’d go to the dashboard, then click back to “write” and nothing was changing. I was getting so frustrated. Then I right-clicked the “write” page and picked “reload” (or refresh) and there it was as it should be. So maybe go directory by directory re-uploading things and when you’re done with each directory refresh the page with a right-click instead of the “reload/refresh” icon at the top of the browser.

    Thanks, HandySolo, I’d have never thought it would be unclicked by default since most bloggers aren’t coders so I didn’t even think to look for a selection to click πŸ˜€ Thanks again!

    They say of all the nuts and bolts that put a car together, the one most important to prevent wrecks is the nut behind the wheel πŸ˜€ I found that a few files didn’t get uploaded, so the editor screen is fine now. Still can’t use the upload feature, so it must have something to do with permissions, but I can upload images manually.

    grapefruit girl, this one worked for me!

    <div id=”header”onclick=”location.href='<?php bloginfo(‘url’); ?>’;” style=”cursor: pointer;”>
    <div id=”headerimg”>
    </div>
    </div>

    Don’t change anything in it. Don’t put in your URL address or anything else. Just copy and paste that exactly as it is, save it and upload it.

    I’m having the same problem grapefruit girl. I know if I go into options and type in a weblog title then it’s going to name the blog site and it creates a link that I can click with the URL of my blog site. But that name I type in has to go somewhere in some file, right? If I could just find what file that ends up in, I could change it.

    Here’s my blog http://swamptropolis.com/swamptropolis/

    It seems I can have my nice picture with my own text, but no link in the header, or I can have a nice picture and skip my own text and type in ‘swamptropolis’ in options in the weblog title space and get the link back

    It’s just that if I typed in ‘swamptropolis’ in that space and that names my blog and gives me a link in the header, shouldn’t swamptropolis show up in some file somewhere?

    Hey, thanks, it worked and I got the comments back. I really appreciate your help!
