In reply to: I need a directory of pages/postsJust an idea here, but maybe you could use the DS blog map plugin and create categories for each author to file their stuff under.

In reply to: old administrator left no cluesThen you may be able to reset the admin email using that account. If not, do you have access to the blog database via phpMyAdmin? If so, then log in and change the admin password and make sure there are no other “strange” users in that table…see the following video to reset the admin password via phpMyAdmin:

In reply to: Installed New WordPress….ERRORThen when I enter the old database info I get nothing but a white screen.
I would bet your old database (old install) was using a custom theme that is not in your new source code? Or, you didn’t disable all the plugins before you upgraded? Try disabling all plugins in your old database via phpMyAdmin…see the following video…

In reply to: Removing siteurl from the databaseSeems like a non-issue of that’s all it’s about.
Agreed…maybe the OP will clarify if there is more to it that what we’re seeing.
Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Removing siteurl from the databaseI’m curious as to why this is an issue and what problems it causes?
The problem for the less tech savvy, is people changing it and locking themselves out of their site. I’m not convinced it should be removed, but, just from my own observations, people sure do seem to lock themselves out with those settings an awful lot. Would it be better to have these in the wp-config.php file? Maybe…the web admin could still change them and it may prevent a lot of frustration for the “average” user.
Of course, anyone who hosts multiple WP sites and has this problem, could put them in wp-config and not have the problem, so it’s an easy fix for the host of multiple sites.

In reply to: Calendars are not appearingI’m not sure where you are getting the “eventscalendarlarge” thing from, but….
In your widgets area, if you click on screen options (upper-right) and then enable accessability mode, and then add the widget for the events calendar, it should work.

In reply to: upgrading from 2.3.2Incremantal is good. I would go to 2.6.5 and then you should be able to go straight to 2.8.
Before you start:
1. Backup (db and source code)
2. Disable all plugins
3. Change to default theme
4. Make sure you backed-up 😉Just be sure to keep a good backup in case you need to fall back and try again. The past releases are here:
