In reply to: remove sidebar and stretch contentI’m in the process of making a tutorial to show exactly how to do this. I should have it posted to my site later today…check there in a few hours and you should see it as the latest post…it will be titled something like “How to create a custom page template in WordPress”

In reply to: Themes, the GPL license and my rightsI also meant to say that after I make many changes or even just a few I can then distribute it as my own work with my own copyright and license if I wanted to, right?
No. You can’t take a GPL product and copyright it…once GPL always GPL. Yes, you can sell it, but you can’t prevent others from freely distributing it…for example, I could make a couple of changes to the WordPress code and offer it for sale on my site (in fact, I wouldn’t even need to change it…I could offer it for sale as is)…if I could find someone naive enough to buy it, then good for me, but I can’t put a copyright on it and prevent them from turning around and re-distributing it for free.

In reply to: Upgrade failed – now admin unavailableA manual upgrade is not reasonable when every upgrade I’ve done in 3 1/2 years has failed at least once and I’ve ended up reinstalling everything but the database.
1. Then you haven’t upgraded very often in the past 3 1/2 years, or
2. You have a very complex site with lots of hacks, outdated plugins, etc., or
3. Your not very good at upgrading, or
4. You’re exaggeratingIf a manual upgrade is reasonable, why is there a button to do it automatically? Don’t say “convenience
Okay, one rule here…if you’re going to ask me a question, then don’t tell me how to answer 😉
Yes, it is for convenience…the convenience of those who are not technically savvy enough to do a manual upgrade. The auto-upgrade feature has made it as easy to upgrade as it is to post to a blog.
I’ve been a network admin for over 20 years.
Then upgrading WP should be a piece of cake for you.

In reply to: Theme Alignment brokenAnd, maybe we should back up a little bit….what were you doing, or did you do, just before you noticed this problem?
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Theme Alignment brokenWell, I don’t know if Tags should be there or not…try a basic theme that we are all familiar with…like default Kubrick. If all is well, then try deleting iNove again, and reinstalling. I assume you are using the latest WP?
If you still have problems, disable all plugins and see what happens.

In reply to: Upgrade failed – now admin unavailableStuff happens when you deal with technology. An auto upgrade could have failed for a dozen reasons…11 of them having nothing to do with WP. A manual upgrade is reasonable.
