@missveronicatv thanks for the links. I’ve been trying them but neither one seems to work, so i am obviously doing something wrong.
Using the default template, I add fields but they never show up on the profile page. When I click edit on the profile, they show up, with data, except the email address field.
Thanks for the help, I will keep messing with it until I figure out what I am doing wrong.
@missveronicatv maybe I am too new to WordPress to understand, but why do I need to create a child theme? I simply want to change the layout of the profile.php page and the fields that are displayed, but cannot figure out how to do so, even with the instructions from https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1454-change-um-profile-layout
I have tried the plugin for custom fields, and those fields showed up some, but not always, and not anywhere in a way that was pleasing to the eye. They never showed up on the edit profile page.
sorry for my lack of understanding.
ok thank you @aswingiri. I was looking at it, and it seems like I should be able to have a Login page that uses a different template than the “default” template, so thus I could just have the login & logout pages that didn’t even have the sidebar, but I cannot figure out how to add a template so that it’s available to choose in the page editing. I will keep messing with it 🙂
edit: when editing the Login page (and other pages accessible to non-logged-in users) I see that I can choose “full width” for the template, which removes the sidebar, but I cannot find where to edit this template.

In reply to: Updates prevented errorSorry, that’s just way over my head. At this point all I can think to do is keep getting the site ready and then go live, as this issue doesn’t seem to be affecting the site right now. My fear is that later on it will cause problems, and then what? Thanks.

In reply to: Problems compoundingThat seems to have fixed it. Thanks!

In reply to: Problems compoundingWell the blocks issue went away. There are still file permission issues that won’t let me update themes or do other actions. I’ll fiddle with plugins to see if I can isolate it i guess. Thanks.

In reply to: Problems compoundingOk, I deleted every plugin. Health Check is already installed, that’s where I got my info on what’s going on. The issue with blocks was fixed – I can create and edit posts – although because I removed Gutenberg or CoBlocks (not sure which was being used) I lost some functionality. I don’t think it was causing the issue though, as it’s been installed from day one and never had this issue. I don’t believe I changed anything, so I can’t figure out what happened.
20/20 Theme is installed, and I can activate it and remove Hestia (my chosen theme) but I cannot update 20/20 as it runs into the permissions issue.
I’m hosted at GoDaddy, and they have no idea what the problem is.

In reply to: How do I apply a CSS that I like to other parts of my site? Thanks, @sajjadhussain2509 . I’m not sure I even understand what you’re saying. Sorry. I don’t see what you’re talking about with the Inspect part, or how to apply a CSS to an image that in a post or page. Maybe I’m blind?
I should clarify this is on the BLOG page. The sidebar on my actual blog posts shows the date using the format I chose in settings. I’d actually like to remove the date from the sidebar and only show it on the main BLOG page with each post excerpt. Thanks.
