Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Charlene,
Success at last! I put a support request to my host provider support to check about installing WordPress. They said not to use c_panel but there was another install facility there where I could just select WordPress and install it without having to do download WP and upload it or do anything with wp_config. There were a few boxes to fill in but nothing complicated.
Still don’t know why it went wrong but it all works fine now.
Thanks very much for all your help.
Duncan

In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Charlene,
I installed WordPress to my host provider via ftp to File Manager>public_html. WordPress did work OK where it was on the host until I lost access to the theme templates.
I think I’ve got to go now – it’s nearly 2 am here.

In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Charlene,
Hope you haven’t got in trouble.
I tried your suggestion but still no joy. You did mean creating the folder under public_html didn’t you?

In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Marlene,
Here are two grabs of the info I was originally sent and what I have put into the config.php.
REMOVED IMAGES
When I go to my website I get a host provider default index page, and when I try to log in to my site wp-admin I get a 404 page.
Maybe it would be better for you to help me out.

In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Marlene,
I couldn’t see MySQL Database Wizard so I used the manual method and uploaded the new wp-config.php, but I still can’t access my site. Is there something else I should do?

In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Marlene,
Here are some screen grabs from my hosting provider. In the 1st one you can see there is a c-panel, and also that there are two versions of WordPress.
2nd screen grab shows contents of WordPress folder:
It seems like I need to create a wp-config.php from the sample one in the list.
Here is a screen grab of the sample:
I’m not sure what to edit in this sample php – could you give me some directions please. Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Marlene,
I tried the Database reset but then plugins for the theme could not be activated. Maybe I should have reloaded the theme as well.
Anyway, I then tried to reinstall WordPress via the ftp, but now I can’t access my site wp-admin. Also, on my site host under public_html, I have a __MACOSX folder and a WordPress folder but the MACOSX folder also has a WordPress folder inside that which doesn’t seem right.
What have I done wrong!

In reply to: Missing theme templatesHi Marlene,
I downloaded a WP Database reset folder. Do I upload the whole folder or some of the files? Please see screen grab in link below.https://www.dropbox.com/s/khnd22hvujlw7gh/WP%20Reset%20Folder.tiff?dl=0
Thanks,

In reply to: Missing theme templatesWould it be a good idea just to reinstall WordPress? So far I have only been playing around with seeing what can be done in WordPress so I wouldn’t lose anything important.

In reply to: Missing theme templatesActually, looking at it again, when I change to Twenty Fourteen, the theme doesn’t even appear in the Dashboard so I can’t select page templates to import.

In reply to: Missing theme templatesThe theme is ZK_Raven.
I have tried both WordPress installer and FTP.
I have also tried changing to Twenty Fourteen theme and I have the same problems.
