Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyI filed a support question there. I’ll wait for them.
I have an idea. If I start the website over, use the same theme and setup the same plugins. Then maybe UpdraftPlus would bring in the backup files. I won’t do it now but its an idea.

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyUKOutdoors is the database name listed wp-config.php file. That matches one of the databases listed in MAMP.
But I’ve got a bigger problem now:
The website on my computer has disappeared. A WP start screen shows instead. It wants me to start over I guess. Apparently, I lost the website somehow. I suspect that what I did to get MAMP running may have done it. Perhaps the database was wiped clean.
There is some good news. Earlier today I made a good backup using the plugin UpdraftPlus. I can see the backup files. The question is how to upload the backup files and get the site back?

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyThis is interesting:
The database with the site name is still empty apparently but its file structure matches the file structure of the generic database I created on cPanel.

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyI got MAMP running
Went into the phpMyAdmin panel
Clicked on Databases, 4 were listed
I see one that matched my site name
When I clicked on it for details, it said there were no tables associated with it.
I went back and clicked on a database named mysql
When I opened it, there were tables associated with it.
Maybe that’s the one I need.
Clicked Export
I guess it exported it, but I don’t know where.
Went to cPanel and clicked phpMyAdmin
Clicked Import
Clicked choose file
Need to find file on computer
I guess its called mysql, but can’t find itForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyI’m sorry for being difficult. I’ve not done this before.
Perhaps you are talking about going into phpmyadmin in my local MAMP app. I just opened MAMP but it won’t run tonight. It used to be fine. I’ll try to fix it.

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyGoDaddy says my database is empty. They say I didn’t upload it. I thought all files were together in the same folder. Is the database file stored somewhere else? I can’t find it yet.

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyI seem to be making progress. I have an instance of WP running online, but the site is mostly empty. No pages, etc. Shouldn’t have the content come through from GoDaddy? Thanks.

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyThey told me the host name. The wp-config.php has been edited and saved. What do I need to do next? Thanks
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyYes, I found the file and am editing it. It asks for Host Name. Is that localhost or perhaps the IP address?
Lol. I meant, are there more steps to get the site up and running?
Thanks.

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyYes, I agree. When I setup the database in cPanel, I did create those four lines of info.
I seem to remember doing something similar when I first installed WP on my computer. A database was created and a file was edited.
So now there is the new database in cPanel. I guess I have to take its values and plug them into that file. Two questions:
I assume I can access and edit that file in cPanel?
After that is done, am I finished, lol? Thanks

In reply to: WordPress on GoDaddyGoDaddy tech will help with this for $100.
The link you provided talks about modifying the wp-config.php. Do they mean the file in cPanel or the file on my computer? Thanks.
