Once we’ve confirmed from some of you that you can successfully add back an API key that has restrictions, we will release it to everyone through the usual autoupdater.
It appears that some hosts serving version 6.2 of WordPress won’t send the referer to Google’s YouTube API. That seems to align with the March 30 date some of you started having the issue, given 6.2 was launched March 29. We’ve got a workaround coming imminently for the next version.
However to doublecheck first, can we can confirm that you all are having this issue ever since upgrading to WordPress 6.2 and not 6.1.1 (or earlier)?

You can move this to pro support. After that, we can ask more specific questions.
There are a bunch of requirements that Google has in order for ads to appear, but none of them are (or even can be) controlled by this plugin. In other words, there’s nothing this plugin can do to affect ad functionality because Google doesn’t provide such parameters in the first place.

Also doublecheck that you’re not using an adblocker in your browser.

The plugin doesn’t actively do anything related to prevent ads.

That error comes from either you having restrictions on the key, or your key has reached the quota limit. Try creating a new key with no restrictions see what happens after you save that new key into the plugin’s API key field.

The plugin is only displaying what is being returned by YouTube and isn’t adding the bars. You can upload a custom thumbnail that doesn’t have the black bars though. There are plenty of how-tos for this if you google.

- Please try deactivating all plugins, then active only Embed Plus YouTube WordPress. What happens when our plugin is the only one active? Does your admin dashboard work?
- After step 1 above, gradually activate each of your other plugins one at a time, and test your admin each time. Once the issue happens again, that will pinpoint exactly which other plugin is creating the conflict.
- What hosting company are you using? They may have logs that tell you exactly what line of code is causing the error.

Can you try multiple browsers and report back what you see? We can’t replicate this. The thumbnails stay even while playing the video and us clicking next/prev multiple times.@harriman if you get a chance to update, let us know if the problem is solved on your end.
