Thanks, this post was really helpful. I had the same problem when I upgraded to WordPress 2.6.2 even though the template files I was using had never caused this problem before. Once I removed extra lines and spaces after the PHP closing tag ?> everything worked fine again.
I had the same problem doing a wordpress install with Plesk 8.3.0. I solved it by:
1. Deleting wordpress installation (which deleted the db) via the Plesk Control Panel
2. Adding a new database in the Plesk control panel (don’t forget to add a user for this db)
3. Downloaded the latest wordpress from this very site, and ran the 5 minute installation.
This took me less time than trying to comb through forums on both my host’s site and wordpress. And, I have a more current version of wp.
