In reply to: Posts Switching to Private mins/days after posting as PublicI’ve noticed that most of the times this happens when I hit the Refresh button on my Firefox browser during a post editing session.
I have this issue too. Some posts get changed to private every now and then after editing.
I just tested this and it seems to be true. When browser refreshes during editing session, the post gets changed to private.
Sometimes this is unavoidable. There are time when one loses internet connection mid-edit.

In reply to: Automobile ClassifiedsI would like a classifieds plugin as well. There is one available but it works with some other site’s classifieds. I would like to set up classified adds that are basically like blog posts, only the display in a separate area of the blog and they are searchable separately from the rest of the blog.
Geez – I guess I could just install a separate WP and set it up as the classified ads section… hmmm…
anyway, this is one of my wishlists for future WP versions. To have multiple blogs more easily.

In reply to: Plugin Request: Automatic Blog every X posts?I don’t think there is one. But perhaps the Archivist plugin could fit your purpose. The archivist plugin randomly selects a post to display. You set where it displays. And you can set which categories it selects from. So, you could put your DVD posts in one category that you don’t use for other posts and have the Archivist select only from that category.
Archivist is here:

In reply to: Which language translation plugin is better?I came here looking for a translator, too. I’m managing a community blog and many of the members’ first language is not English.
Having used translators to read their blogs, I agree that auto translators are not great. However, they can give you the gist and that’s really all I need.
From my limited experience babelfish seems to be better than Google.

In reply to: changing image/text on login screen?Yeleek points you in the right direction. First back-up and then change these files: wp-admin.css and wp-login.php to suit your needs.
You can find some hints here: http://brams.dk/2005/05/18/building-a-member-site/
though it’s a bit old. I just did it and it works well. I still have some changes to make, but I’m happy to have found the info here.It would be great if someone could write a plugin to deal with customizing the backside of WP.

In reply to: Testers needed for new version of WP-TranslateI’ll try it out in the 2k Bloggers sandbox. I’ve been looking for a good translator plugin for that site as well as my own blog. Thanks.

In reply to: Pros and Cons of WP 2.1 (IMHO)Overall, my main complaint with 2.1 (and for all WP upgrades) is that the new features added do not have options to turn them off. We now must get plugins to turn off new features.
This is a serious design flaw in my opinion. I think every addition of functionality should include an option to remove that function.
All in all, though, I’m happy with 2.1 and I’ll keep using it 🙂 And thank you to all the hard workers who created it. Open source is awesome and code IS beautiful (even if I don’t understand most of it).
