Thanks Sebast, I was hunting high and low for the older version. At least, it is back to normal. I’ve learned my lesson and will wait patiently for the newer version.
And also thanks to Halls, will see how WP 3.0 goes before I upgrade to the newer version.

Thank you t31os, you are right, the insertion of doc type seem to solve the problem now.
