I have pasted the google plus code into many wp sites before without using a child theme, are you using the spacious theme and trying this? if so can you show me where you are pasting your code?

I finally found out how to do this, I worked it out myself,

In the “editor” (under appearance), it’s in the “content.php” section, just do a text search for “read more” and then change the text between the ” symbols to whatever you want (see below)

Basically you add the following code to “custom CSS” under “Theme Options” – “Other” –

.single .secondary-content-box {
display: none;
}

Hope this can helps someone else! 😉
