I can access the dashboard as normal- what the hacker program seems to have done is create about 600 draft posts from my previous published posts.
I’ve upgraded to the newest version.
Do I still need to replace those files you mentioned? I am guessing right because my site still does not work right, though am asking in case the hack has damaged something else.
I appreciate your help

If you had to guess- is it likely that my data has been erased, or merely that the code that was displaying it has been deleted so the data is still there somewhere?

Turns out that, as I use register.com and new domains hosted by them are actually subdomains of the first you they host for you, I needed to change the IP address that the DNS routes to. or something like that…..
