FYI, page encoding had been changed from UTF-8 to UTF-7 under the Reading Settings, which caused the random characters.
Thanks for those. I’ll start scouring through the site. Yay!

In reply to: Unable to log into my wordpress site any moreWell it’s a new day with a new set of challenges for me. Thankfully my wordpress site won’t be one of them. While I was asleep, the wordpress elves were busy fixing my website so that when I got up this morning I could log into it =D
To be more specific, I contacted my web hosting provider, HostPapa last night and requested that they disable mod_security on my domain. When I checked my e-mail this morning I found confirmation that this had been done and when I tried to log into my wordpress site I was successful.
Thanks to esmi for all your assistance with this issue.

In reply to: Unable to log into my wordpress site any moreI have renamed my plugins folder and themes folders and reuploaded the standard ones from the zip file. I’ve checked in phpMyAdmin and the active_plugins field is definitely set to a:0:{} . Tried to log in again and still no success logging in. It’s getting too late for me now so I will have to try again tomorrow.

In reply to: Unable to log into my wordpress site any moreI’ll try it again, although the last time I uploaded I moved all files except for the wp-content folder to another location, so the folder was virtually empty for the new files to go in.

In reply to: Unable to log into my wordpress site any moreI’m fairly sure I was. I kept a copy of my previous version in case I had to revert back to them for whatever reason. when I did the upgrade.php it said the same message above about already being up to date.
Yes I can access the wp_options table. What do you want me to look for?

In reply to: Unable to log into my wordpress site any moreYes. The files I uploaded had come straight out of the wordpress-3.4.1 zip file and when I ran the wp-admin/upgrade.php it said
No Update Required
Your WordPress database is already up-to-date!

In reply to: Unable to log into my wordpress site any moreYes. All that is listed there are a couple of 406 errors that occurred when I tried renaming the .htaccess file as suggested from a support site.

That just rendered the website itself unviewable (comes up with a blank white page now) and the login page is behaving just the same. I tried copying the latest version across manually and tried the update.php but it says everything was up to date.
