Thanks for the explanation James.
Bear in mind that I didn’t set the site up, I just use it. It’s a bit like buying a car from the garage and letting them service and repair it. I just want to drive the car.
They used Visual Composer to set everything up and I’ve carried on using it and I can’t see me changing it, even if I could or should.
It strikes me that WordPress Reader isn’t for me, but that’s a shame because I like interacting with other people.
Thanks for your response James, but one thing just seems to lead to another. I’ve no idea what this means. I’m no computer expert, I just want to run a webpage. I give up.

So why are people seeing all this computer code text?
Thanks for taking a look James.
Obviously, that suggests to me that not everyone else’s communications between Reader and my site is working properly. Would you agree? If so, I’ll just let it rest.

Hi,
A while ago I posted on the forum that my website was not communicating correctly with WordPress Reader.
Apparently the problem was to do with my site not having a security certificate. I took your advice and have now got one, but my site is having the same problem once again. Please see the latest response on the page below as to what’s happening. Can you please help as interaction is not happening nowhere near as much as I would like because people just give up going directly to my website. I’m about to give up too.
Thanks
EasymalcFingers crossed. Thanks for your help James.
To see if there’s been any change in the situation since you’ve changed the settings KokkieH, I’ve sent another post to my website this morning to see if I get any response and whether problems are still being experienced. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for this info James. I can see that I need to get onto my provider again to hear what they have to say.

Thanks again KokkieH,
I’m beginning to get some hope at last that this can all get sorted.
There is one thing I’m definitely not sure about though – the SSL certificate. My host tells me that I don’t need a security certificate as I don’t run a website that really needs it. As you can see, my website is purely for blogging without any commercial activity. They tell me that it’s not worth paying for something I don’t need. Are they right? or are you saying that I can change the security settings without having to pay for the privilege?

Hi KokkieH,
While I’m still waiting for my previous follower to get back to me I thought I’d share with you problems another follower is having. I would be interested to know if you think they are connected.
Here’s a copy of his message without the screenshots. Is there a way I can get these screenshots onto the forum?
“3. Problem 1 accessing your site from WP Reader. See the first attachment. I get a security warning when trying to visit your site from Reader. I have not had this problem with your site before, or with any other site, or if I simply Google ‘EasyMalc’, find your site and visit it. I can view your website perfectly via Google. I’m no expert, but this suggests some kind of issue between your site and WP Reader to me. If there was a problem with Google, I wouldn’t be able to find your website and read it from there. Sorry, Malc, but I’m not getting this problem with other website at the moment. If I do, I will let you know. You changing what browser you use won’t make any difference to how other people see your website.
4. Problem 2 with your site and WP Reader. See the second attachment. Your images are being scrambled into gobbledegook text. I hadn’t spotted that the other day. Again, I’m not getting this problem with other websites at the moment. This does look like an issue between your host and WP Reader. Just for interest, I found your site via Bloglovin’ – not a reader I particularly like – but anyway your site can be viewed fine there, though the most recent post showing is ‘A Brief Encounter with Lithuania’s Capital City’, which is a little weird.”

I certainly will. Thanks again.
Thanks Kokkieh,
I’ll get onto the case and get back to you as soon as I can, but I know for a fact that the follower in question won’t be available now for a couple of days. I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi Kokkieh,
Here is a copy of a reply I’ve got back from one of my followers –
“…The main things I’m having difficulties with now are that I don’t get email notifications of new posts. This is a pain because I keep having to go onto the reader to check, when it was easier to just click the link from the notification….
The other problem I have is that when I’m on my site, your replies to my comments come up in my notifications as normal, but I can’t reply to them from my list. I type a reply and hit ‘send’, then I get a message saying ‘failed’, so I have to go onto your website directly to retype the reply, but what’s telling is that it’s only yours that we have this specific issue. Very rarely do I get this happening with any other blogs I follow.”
I hope this gives some idea as to what’s happening, because this follower isn’t the one to have these problems. Thanks

Thanks for helping KokkieH,
I’m going to have to contact one or two who are having problems and then get back to you ASAP. Thanks again for your help.
