In reply to: a gradual horizontal color change in the navigation (menu) barWAIT! O.M.G. I found that I had deleted one } from the end of my very first css (child) entry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE TINY } !!!
And I did it before I started adding !important to anything.
Annnnnnnnd I have added !important to all sorts of things in my css that had me at the end of my wits (the navigation/menu bar was just one, but an important one for me)…..and they are all working.
THANK YOU SO MUCH alchymyth 🙂

In reply to: a gradual horizontal color change in the navigation (menu) barHi alchymyth! Wow I love wordpress support! Thank you for your response. It has made me aware that the dark scheme needs to be dealt with differently.
So,
I added !important to that line. Nothing.
I added !important to all lines in that *access {} grouping in my first post. Nothing.
I also added a few !important s to other lines in my css. Nothing. Then I tried switching to the white color scheme and still did getting anything.
*IN ADDITION, ALL changes I have ever made to css (in child) are now not showing up on my site, right down to the font size! I AM SO SAD.
Then, I removed all !important’s from my css. And still all changes I have ever made to css (in child) are not showing up. I am slightly bewildered by this.
I did some googling and found this : http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes#Note_on_Twenty_Eleven_and_using_the_Dark_Theme_or_Link_Color_option
So,
1. DO I NEED A DARK.CSS FILE FOR MY CHILD THEME?Or
2. maybe I need to add !important to the end of EVERY line in my
css (child) ?? ……actually when you said “any styles” is that what you meant?I still do not know, then, why, when there are no !important’s now on my css (child), why all changes are not showing up.
SORRY FOR THE LENGTH OF THIS POST!!
Thank you in advance for any guidance you can give 🙂
