In reply to: Comments form text clipping problemI just got rid of the customisations I’d made to my child theme’s comments.php and reverted to the default comments.php for twenty eleven. I’m not sure why this worked, I’m afraid, but it did.
The comments box still resizes when you focus into it, but I’m not too worried about this.
Thanks.

In reply to: Comments form text clipping problemupdate: i’ve inserted an 80px text-indent which has partially solved the problem, although it results in a blank space in the comments box where there should be some text reading ‘reply’ or similar. if anyone knows where I need to go to insert this text, please advise. i’m using a child theme of twenty eleven. thanks.

In reply to: Centering menu and headerThanks! Yes, I’m using a child theme. OK, that worked for the header. I suspect the menu might be a little more tricky.

In reply to: Comments form text clipping problemIs anyone able to help with this?
To recap, the remaining problems are:
1. When you type text into the ‘author’, ’email’ or ‘website’ fields in the comments form, the ‘z-index’ setting doesn’t seem to work in the way it should – i.e., the text you write in is laid over the top of the label text. Would indenting the text help here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
2. The box where you write the actual comment resizes whenever you click into it; I’d like to prevent this from happening if possible.
The comments form can be found here.
The code is at http://pastebin.com/TtceApu3.
Many thanks!
Ah, false alarm – I had only commented out the responsive structure section, rather than deleting it. Have deleted it now, and the problem’s fixed. Thanks again!
Thanks v much. I’ve implemented those changes. They do seem to have fixed a few things. The footer is now pushed to the bottom of the page, as it should be, and none of the elements move on resizing the browser window.
However, the posts now extend across the full width of the page, and the sidebar is pushed down below them.
I’ve left the changes in, in case anyone can take a look at them.
Any help in getting the sidebar back where it should be would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks. I’m not really that experienced, so I don’t quite understand those validation errors, although by the looks of it they relate to the fact that I’ve used a columns plugin to structure the text on that particular page.
The layout / resizing problem occurs across all pages on the site, not just that page, so I expect it’s caused by something (or multiple things) in the stylesheet, rather than by anything restricted to that one page.
I’ve pasted the full ‘structure’ section of the css here: http://pastebin.com/VVmpACL5 in case that’s of any help.
If anyone can see any errors in that code that might be causing the problem, please do let me know.
It’s worth pointing out that I haven’t altered anything in the ‘colophon’ section of the stylesheet, as I’m not quite sure what to alter. That might be the reason why the footer doesn’t get pushed down under the sidebar.
Thanks! I tried removing that section, but it seemed to throw everything out of position. The individual posts expanded to fill the width of the screen, and the sidebar appeared on the left, laid over everything else…

In reply to: Comments form text clipping problemno problem, thanks v much for your help! the form isn’t from a plugin I’m afraid; it’s all coming from the style.css.

In reply to: Comments form text clipping problemI should have mentioned that there’s also a slight problem with the box where you post the actual comment itself. In Chrome, this box seems to resize when you click into it. I’d like to stop it from doing this, if possible. Again, any advice would be much appreciated.
Very best wishes, and thanks in advance!
