In reply to: [Email Before Download] Include name as well as email in 'To'?If the emails are ending up in the recipients spam folder, it could be because the From: of your email doesn’t match up with the system that is sending the email (this is also common reason for the email getting rejected entirely and not making it to spam or inbox).
Your best bet to make sure things get delivered into the inbox is to configure SPF, DKIM, etc. That’s too complicated for me to explain so you’ll have to go research it.
You might want to also install an SMTP plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/postman-smtp/ which will give you more control over how your email is delivered & configured.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] How to make a file attachment sent to emailI tried it but no email showed up (I tried using two different email addresses). It did display links on the page that seemed to work. Do you have it set to Inline Links or to Both? You should probably set it to Both if you’re still trying to debug it.
I’ve never seen a problem where it didn’t attach the files to the email. If your filenames are “normal” (no weird punctuation or non-english characters) then I think it should work.
Are you sure that the email is getting delivered properly? Note that it sends 2 emails. One is the notification email that goes to (usually) your admin email address (for your wordpress) then the other email has the attachments and it goes to whatever email address the visitor put into your form. I think you should go make a test gmail account and put that email address in your form when you test & see you get an email to the test address.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Email Link Not Workalso, if you have “masked” turned on in the EBD settings, try turning it off.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Email Link Not WorkMost likely the problem has to do with the fact that you are using a non-English language. Other people have had trouble with that.
I can’t see what’s causing the 500 error — it would be in your webserver error log or possibly in a wordpress error file or maybe php log, depending on how you have things set up (most likely in webserver error log).
There are a couple of things you can do here. First, I would go into Download Monitor and look at one of the files you uploaded. There will be a field sort of in the upper right area of the screen that has the URL for that file. Copy that URL and paste it into your browser and see if that works. I’m guessing it won’t. If it doesn’t, then that’s where the problem lies (in Download Monitor).
I suspect that if you upload a new file and the filename is only english-compatible characters (nothing with accents or umlauts or anything or than plain english-style letters) and you make the file title the same way and you make a Page in wordpress with a shortcode for that file only (or do two files if you want) then I’ll bet that will work. Make sure there are no spaces or punctuation of any kind in the filename and in the file title (right now you have parentheses in the file title, don’t do that, see if that helps)

In reply to: [Email Before Download] How to make a file attachment sent to emailWhat’s not working? The email never arrives or it arrives but there is no attachment?

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Email Link Not WorkThat’s enough information to figure out what the problem might be. Make a test page that we can get to that shows the problem & post the URL back here so we can try it.
If you can’t make a public test page then you might also try disabling all other plugins to see if that fixes it.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Email template in multiple languagesEmail Before Download doesn’t support that out of the box. You would need to modify the plugin. Perhaps you could pay the plugin author to do it for you.
Or, some of the multilingual wordpress plugins support multiple languages by basically doing multiple wordpress installations and then the plugin switches between each installation based on the language. It sounds like your multilingual wordpress site is not using that method, so that’s probably not gonna work for your situation.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] No email is sent/receivedEither your wordpress can’t send email at all for some reason (not configured, ISP issues, whatever), or else it does send email but whatever email addresses you’re sending to are from email providers that reject incoming email if the From: address in the email doesn’t match up with the physical system that is sending the email (and you haven’t configured SPF and DKIM).
Most likely it is the latter issue, which happens a lot if you are hosting your wordpress installation with a hosting provider). There are several different things you could try.
Option 1:
You could change the From: email address to be the same as your wordpress admin email address (assuming you are getting email from wordpress). That will usually make it work. There is another plugin for EBD that let’s you change the From: (though everytime you resave your EBD settings you have to go back into that other plugin & put the From: in there again. The other plugin (the one that lets you change the From: is https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-sender-for-email-before-download/Option 2:
You could install an SMTP plugin and configure it. I would go with this one:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/postman-smtp/
A lot of people on here have used that & it’s worked well for them — plus the plugin author is sometimes on here helping folks. You can look back through this forum (or via his author link or whatever) and find some of his old posts if you need help configuring it.Of course, if you can send email at all from your wordpress, then you should probably call your hosting provider or chk with their support & they’ll probably be able to help.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Requesters email is wrong in "my" emailThe notification email is configured in Contact Form 7. I’m not sure which version of CF7 you’re using — the latest versions have a tab-style interface which is a little bit easier to comprehend.
One tab is called “Form”. In that tab you put in some HTML for the form that the visitor to your website fills out (it has like “Enter your name”, “Enter your email” or something like that.
There is another tab called “Mail”. The settings in that tab control how that notification email gets set up and where it goes and such. You can hardcode values in there and you can also use the same variable names that are from the “Form” tab, like “your-name” and “your-email”, which will be the values that the visitor types into that form.
So, in the “To:” field, you probably want your normal email address (the notification email will be sent there). In the “From:” field, you -could- put the “[your-name]” variable and it would show up in your inbox with a “From:” of whatever the user typed in. I wouldn’t do that, because it’s likely many of those emails will end up in your spam folder instead of your inbox (because they were sent from your wordpress but have a From of someone else, which is a red flag for spam). Probably what you want to set the From: to is the admin email address of your wordpress installation. That way you’ll know it came from your WordPress and it will definitely get to you (assuming your wordpress is able to email the admin, which is pretty important of course). Because these are just notification emails to you, you’re unlikely to ever need to reply to them, but if you wanted to, you could put like “Reply-To: [your-email]” in the Additional Headers section. Then, when you got one of these email notifications you could Reply to it & it would send it to the email address the visitor had typed in. I don’t know why you’d ever want to do that on a notification email, but you could set it up that way just in case (that’s how I have it on mine).
Sorry for the long response there, but I wanted to get enough info for anyone else reading this so they could understand the Contact Form 7 setup. And, if you happen to be on the older Contact Form 7 — the one without a tabbed interface — then everything I just said is still basically true, but everything is on one CF7 page rather than split into tabs. It’s a little harder to understand, but works the same.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Downloaded file not appearingOk, let’s back up a second and make sure we’re talking the same terminology.
On your homepage, you have a 3 column horizontal layout and in the right column there is some text titled “Free Gift” (with the “Sincerely, Vanita Lott”). The “Free Gift” title in that column is a link and right now it just goes back to the same page. I’m assuming that’s the one you’re talking about.
Also on that page, a little further down, you have some things that are 1 column (full-width across the browser). I’m guessing that those are Posts and it’s showing the first few lines for each one, is that right? That’s what I think you mean when you say “in the post area”. The first one of those is titled “Free Gift” and it has a photo of some gift boxes and a “Continue” button. Both the “Free Gift” title & the “Continue” button both link to http://yourbirthexpert.com/free-gift-7/ which is a Post that you created in wordpress. The fact that the “Free Gift” title &^ the “Continue” button are links doesn’t have anything to do with EBD, that’s just WordPress and your theme (or maybe a plugin) listing your recent Posts and turning the titles & continue button (often that’s a “read more” button on other websites) into links that go to the full Post. That full Post (which is at the URL I mentioned) was created by you & you put the EBD shortcode on that page. Now, I’m calling that a “Post” because most WP themes will list your Posts on your homepage, but Pages aren’t listed. However, it’s possible it could be a Page and it’s somehow listed in there, but I suspect it’s a Post. I don’t know if you wanted your EBD to be a Post or a Page, but I can’t think of why it wouldn’t work as a Post, so that’s probably fine. Anyway, that’s why it’s appearing on your homepage like that I suspect.
Thus, the links to the EBD Post are all under your control. In that third column you can put a link in there and just make it go to http://yourbirthexpert.com/free-gift-7/ if you want.
Make sense?

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Downloaded file not appearingI’m not sure I understand what you’re asking. I looked at your site & you have a link from the homepage to the page that has the EBD form on it …. I think that’s what you were trying to do, so I’m going to assume you solved your question. If not, restate what you’re asking (and maybe include URLs because I’m not sure which page is which exactly)

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Email Link is 'vertical' one word at a timeI just tried your site & it displayed the Download link properly in red, as you intended. It looks like you added some css into a style tag to fix the display issue, so I’m assuming you already fixed everything & it’s working the way you want. Good work.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Downloaded file not appearingthe easiest & simplest thing to do is just add a new file to Download Monitor. Make sure that you have never uploaded it before. Give it a simple name like “aaaaa.jpg” that you haven’t used before. Once you’ve done that, just try to go to the URL for that file from the Download Monitor screen & see if it works:
If it does, then you know the problem is specific to the 255 one & you should just delete it and re-add it.
If it doesn’t work, then you know something else is wrong – plugins, webserver, permissions, etc
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Email Before Download] Downloaded file not appearingYeah that’s the problem. If that link doesn’t work then that file is not downloadable via Download Monitor (and thus it’s not going to work in Email Before Download since that’s the URL it uses).
Most likely another plugin is interfering. You could try disabling some of them. Or, maybe the file is just not there. Either upload a new file & change your shortcode to reference the new download id, or else on the file with the 255 id, expand that middle section area on the screen so you can see the filename where it & go check and see if it’s there — or just remove it and reupload it.
If you can’t get the file to download in Download Monitor, then it definitely won’t work in EBD.

In reply to: [Email Before Download] Downloaded file not appearingHard to say what’s wrong exactly, but I suspect the problem is in the Download Monitor area. I would expect to be able to go to http://yourbirthexpert.com/downloads/255 and have that download the PDF file, but that doesn’t work. I also tried “download” rather than “downloads” (because I can’t remember if the default endpoint is download or downloads). Anyway, neither worked. That makes me think you changed the endpoint to something else or else the file is not really there or something. On the Download Monitor screen for that particular file, there is a “URL” field in the top right (you took a screenshot of it in http://yourbirthexpert.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Download-Free-PDF1.pdf but it doesn’t show the whole value). Get that whole URL and post it back in here so I can see what the download URL is (and you should be able to go to that & have it download the PDF .. it not, the file is missing or bad permissions or you have weird redirects or rules in your webserver that affect the “downloads” url or whatever).
