  • I´m having the very same problem. I´m hosting on a dedicated server, and I´m using forwarding and masking from a GoDaddy domain. It forwards / masks the main page, but not the links.

Opps, apparently that doesn´t work. It works to some degree, but after clicking on the links on the blog, columns 2 and 3 end up at the bottom of the page.

I´ve checked with normal url´s on both wordpress and blog url and that doesn´t break the columns.

So, we´re at square one again. lol

I´m stil looking for a way to modify the WordPress installation on a dedicated server, to work with a GoDaddy domain with 100% forwarding and masking without any problems.

Hey esmi and thanks for the link. Neither info was useful, as I´m not moving any content – just forwarding and masking. However, I think I made it to work.

Here´s the solution for those of you who install on your main domain with a certain provider, and then wish to buy additional domains for instance from GoDaddy and make the new domain auto forward and mask.

This is great when having a dedicated server and then buying cheap (GoDaddy domains) for several blogs hosted on the same dedicated server.

Obviously, you need to set up the masking and forwarding on the GoDaddy end. What you enter in WordPress for the masking and forwarding to work even when you start to click on links and such:

WordPress url: As your main installation domain url. For instance: “http://www.yourdomain.com/wordpress/”

Blog url: Enter “/” only. When saved, it will show empty. This will create a relative path rather than absolute and make the forwarding / masking to work properly.

Thanks esmi. The masking forwarding is already done and works on the GoDaddy end. It´s just that when I click on any links in the blog, it directs to the main url. Simply because it´s “hard coded” in the general options.
