I’ve read through some of the forum posts about this issue but can’t get a definitive answer. One of my clients created this post:

Facebook didn’t use the featured image or any of the images within the post. Instead, it used the “Get the Gown Kit” image that’s in a widget.
I read that Facebook looks for Open Gateway metadata. I don’t see that in any of the code for the images used so my questions are:
1. Can I just have my client add property=”og:image” into the img tag or something?
2. Is there a plugin that can automate this to override how Facebook determines what image to select?

@vincej is there any downside to this? I don’t know squat about php and I really want to use your code. I just upgrade a very old theme I’ve been using for three years and have more than 1,200 posts I want to attached featured images to.
Guess I’m looking for reassurance. Can I get a hug? 🙂
Here’s the site. It’s using the latest version of both WordPress and the theme, but the theme hasn’t been updated for two years and I’ve gotten my grubby hands on it to shove it around to do what I wanted to accomplish.
