It looks as if a lot of the “errors” from the Search Console tool appear because the plugin uses the “BlogPosting” markup, where the tool is looking for the “NewsArticle” markup.
Also, the plugin does not include markup for “image” or “logo” which are both required. It is still a new plugin, and hopefully the authors see the latest updates from Google’s tools and make some adjustments.

The plugin worked perfectly on another site, so it may just be theme specific. The theme my company is using is called “Fresh News” by WooThemes.
Unfortunately, I can’t make the content live to be seen until it’s ready, and it looks like I may just have to not use the plugin this time around (it’s kind of a high profile case, and my bosses wouldn’t be to happy about posting unfinished content).
