In reply to: no theme displaysimple!! OMG .. I can move a joomla site in 20 minutes but have spent three days moving this and it still doesnt work.
I have followed any directions I can find and tried to move it to a sub directory first which blew up and now a subdomain and still its not working.
I checked again and my theme folder is extirely there?
Go here to see what I see
http://whub37.webhostinghub.com/~polars6/burundi/
Now something that seems odd is that I have created a subdomain called burundi.terilynn.ca but on this new server I seem to only be poitning to the subdomain name? Is this because my nameservers are still pointed at my old host??

In reply to: Two Blogswow this is beyond ridiculously complicated. The docs only cover sort of what I want to do and as you say they are inaccurate.
Can someone goive me clear direction for what I actually want to do. I want to move my OLD blog to a new host AND put that OLD blog in a subfolder of the root so that anyone visiting the site will need to enter
http://<mydomain>/folderThat way as I add blogs I can use my static HTML portal page (found at the root of <mydomain> and link to the various blogs easily. I do not want to use the multisite feature.
Through this move I want to ensure my OLD blog remains functional on the OLD host so that I have an “out” if all else fails. Its just a name server change to go back. Note that I already have backups of my OLD blog files and DB set aside.
Finally I want to install a new blog in another subfolder (ie /folder2 ). That seems fairly easy as it will be a new install and build.
Thanks Doug

In reply to: Two Blogsya read thru that 20 times and it sound sso easy.
“If you are changing to a new server but same domain, all you need to do is edit wp-config.php with your new database/user information and upload everything as it is to your new server.“
But it DID NOT WORK

In reply to: host move errorsI am getting a little closer. I edited my sql file to change all occurrences http://<mydomain> to http://<mydomain>/folder where WP is loaded.
My link now takes me to the blog and I can see the blog entry but there is no formatting on the page??

In reply to: host move errorsI think I need to go back to the old site and change URLs in setting before exporting the DB. I will try that and see if it sresolves my issue
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: host move errorsI have already read thru that page re moving the site and this is where I got my plan of attack:
“When Your Domain Name and URLs Do Not Change
Moving your domain …If you are changing to a new server but same domain, all you need to do is edit wp-config.php with your new database/user information and upload everything as it is to your new server.”
In te config file I changed the DB info but I do not see anywhere for WP path changes?? Is this something I need to do right in phpMyAdmin?

In reply to: Blog Archivesis the archive.php in my template not the custome page template??

In reply to: Blog Archives“If you don’t see this sidebar then you most likely need to choose that checkbox which you should see after you slide open your “Screen Options” at the top of the admin screen when you are editing or creating a page.”
I selected all the items under screen optiosn but I do not see any drop down listing templates under Page Attributes or anywhere on the p[age??
Why is this not a simple thing? I see it on all the blogs I read?

I added the plugin “Login with Ajax” worked like a charm and cleared my issues
did all that and still no images showing??? Followed the path via FTP and the files are definitely there…..terilynn.ca/wp-content/plugins/flagallery-skins/stylishgrey/gallery.swf
????????
Doug
any updates on this issue yet since I provided the link?
if I use the GRAND Page option (in the left column under admin) and add it to a new menu it just opens a full blank black page over top of my website. If however I add the [flagallery gid=3 name=”Kenya Gallery”]
to a standard page I get what you see here (terilynn.ca/page-gallery/) with just a blank white gallery. there are 3 images uploaded in the gallery and I confirmed that in the FIAGallery overview tab
