Well I’d the same problem.
My solution is this:
1. In “wp-config.php” the DB_CHARSET was “utf-8”. I changed it to “utf8” and saved the file.
2. I then installed W3 Total Cache
3. In “wp-config.php” I changed DB_CHARSET back to “utf-8”
… and one other (small) request: Add a button on “Edit Category” to jump to the list of files in that category.
My “insert link”-problemed is solved… After disabling and then enabling the plugin the plugin works fine.
