I think you mean the linkcolors at the bottom of each entry? I think the links in the sidebar are pretty good readable.About the CSS is a good point, I will replace that.
I’m using the Imagemanager plugin for wordpress for the thumbnails and it puts automatically the alt text in it. I have no idea to replace that with, for example, the title of the entry.
