In reply to: Permalinks & Redirects — basic overviewThanks a million for checking over these steps for me. I finally did this today & the redirects to the new URL are working just fine. I ended up using this redirects plugin, since it was more recent:

In reply to: “Empty haystack” error displayed in postThis same thing has been happening to me sporadically since I launched my blog a month or so ago. I followed the adviced at betis.com, in the post from alternateroute to turn off messaging in functions-formatting.php, and so far so good.

In reply to: Kubrick – broken page layoutwell… it does seem to’ve been the post — i deleted the post and pasted it back in place (minus the widest image) and now the layout is fine. I also, on further searches, found other posts on this topic saying this is usually due to oversized images. Well.. I said I was a newbie!

In reply to: Kubrick – broken page layoutthe mystery deepens… this seems to have nothing to do with the theme. Is something in my post pushing out the layout?

In reply to: Kubrick – broken page layoutThat’s such a great suggestion and thanks for that… however sadly it’s not working. I’ve downloaded K2 as well as GreenTrack (http://wpthemes.info/green-track), and they’re all doing more or less the same thing: throwing the sidebar down below the main page body:
http://www.daveskitchen.com.Also, occasionally I see an error about the ‘haystack’ — searching through the codes turns up nothing on that — what is it?
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: 500 ErrorI had this exact same experience today when trying to install WordPress at FatCow. A bit more info from FatCow tech support to add this thread: CGI Management was not enabled on my account.
Their Tech Support enabled CGI Management for me, but then told me it wouldn’t take effect until the next server refresh — which was 8 hours away!!
So guess what I did: I cancelled my FatCow account and signed up at MidPhase. I had WordPress up and running a couple of hours later. Best decision I made all day.
