  • A very good question, especially as on one client website, updating to the latest version of the Gutenberg plugin (4.5.1) causes problems with the Make layout functionality. It seems to be duplicating content contained in a Content Columns section as a ‘classic edit’ block at the top of the screen. Yet when the page is previewed it all seems normal.

Also: the site is reporting a failure to load the tinymce plugin from the wp-includes/js/tinymce/ folder.

I’ve deactivated Gutenberg for now, but obviously that won’t be an option once it becomes part of the WP core. Is this something you folks are already aware of and working on?

You can set up a Columns section, then use the options tab to change the column count to 1. That, in effect, creates a single, regular page.

    Cheers David!

I had the same problem and found a work-around by trial and error.

When the import hangs, don’t refresh the screen or click the ‘Refresh blog list’ button.

Instead, go back to ‘Import’ in the tools menu, then click on the ‘Blogger’ option again.

You should then find that there’s a ‘continue’ button against the blog you’re importing. Click that and, with any luck after a short delay, the import should pick up again where it left off.

Depending on the size of the import the process is likely to hang again a number of times. The only solution seems to be to repeat as necessary until the job’s done.

Just don’t click that ‘Refresh blog list’ button or you may have to start the process over again from the beginning.
