Sure.

Content imported using bebop is automatically viewable through the users’ social activity stream, but we wanted a dedicated place that would only view content imported via Bebop. When we first designed Bebop, it was focussed around the user of OER so it was really important for us to have somewhere that only displayed OER content. Hence, the same content is also available in the resources tab.

Because of the OER focus, we wanted something that was similar in functionality to BuddyStream, but we wanted more control over how content was imported. This way we could add feeds and then curate the imported items before any users see them. This was also important, because we will eventually use these resources to populate our academic’s staff profile – which is a step we deem necessary to help promote and share OER’s.

We have since understood that many people using bebop are using it as a social media aggregator, so we have tried to limit the use of the term OER so the plugin is appealing to a wider audience. The more people we have using the plugin, the more i can justify spending my development time improving it.

We have also added options, which allow admins to choose whether content needs to be verified or whether it goes straight into the activity stream. Likewise we have allowed admins to choose whether content imported using Bebop is hidden in the sitewide activity stream.

As far as i am aware, in BuddyStream you can only add one account per user. In bebop you can add as many as you wish. So you could monitor feeds for multiple accounts if you so wished. (this doesn’t work for Facebook or Twitter as they are oAuth services).
