In reply to: wp-content wiped out!Yeah, I was dreading that! I dont have a current backup of wp-content, it’s too large to download. However, the host may have one. I’ve made up a new wp-content on my Mac, replacing all the wp-based files with the latest versions from 4.1.1. It will put the theme back, tho it might need updating, ditto the plugins folder.
Additionally, I really need to know if the site was hacked, if so, it’s a first this hosting co, who I’ve been with for 12 years and my site has never been hacked in all that time (tho it’s suffered the usual Ddos attacks etc).
What pain! But thanks

In reply to: WP editor's buttons not respondingYou gotta be kidding! Do know how long it takes to do all this?
Well, several weeks later and the problem has not only NOT been resolved, but I’ve not had a single communication concerning this problem with my IP being blocked by wordpress.com.
YEs, the problem has been kindof resolved in that my hosting company has figured out a workaround but connecting grinds to a halt because of eg: a link to: public-api.wordpress.com not responding.
When is wordpress going to have the courtesy to respond to me or my hosting company about this problem?
BTW: I know you’re going to say this is a wordpress.com problem, but they’re even worse at responding than dot org.
Well actually, i resolved it along with my hosting company. But I still need to know why/how my wordpress.com connections got blocked. This issue has NOT been addressed ONCE by the folks at wordpress.com, so you maybe happy but I’m not.

In reply to: Image editing problemsY’know, sometimes and with all due respect, I feel like I’m being talked to as if I were a schoolkid, here. Is it really necessary?
OzManic’s comments are kinda related and why add yet another thread dealing with essentially the same issues? I have no objection to OzManic piggybacking if we both benefit from the exchange.

In reply to: Image editing problemsSo now, basic HTML commands, I mean really basic, like back to the very beginning of HTML, are now considered optional extras?
I think not. As to my theme, well I brought it to the attention of the designer and he told me I didn’t know what I was talking about, which is a pity as in other respects I really like the theme and am loathe to go back to the one I’ve used for years, P2, just because it can handle basic HTML!

In reply to: Image editing problemsOK, but why do I need to add yet another plugin? It seems to me that every time I add one it increases the odds of something going wrong.
OK, so someone, somewhere made a decision that I knew nothing about nor had any control over. An improvement?
So on the one hand, wordpress consolidates a lot of functions into Jetpack for example, then on the other, takes built-in functions away on the assumption that the theme will deliver.
My theme can’t even handle wrapping text around an image for more than one paragraph!
Sometimes, you need step back from things and figure that less is more.

In reply to: Image editing problemsOk, will do but why has the editor gone backwards?
