Yes I did set an AMP page for my home page. And yes, I have both page sitemaps and author sitemaps created months ago through google search console.

Good to know crawling can take a while, I was wondering why nothing was happening yet. Google Search Console is reporting no AMP pages yet and it is “Processing data, please check again in a few days”

I just googled myself on mobile and don’t even see the AMPed blog post you are seeing. Strange. Even stranger, this discussion thread shows up as a google result towards the bottom of the first search page.

And I’m still wondering if I only need to enable AMP for posts and pages? Right now I have AMP enabled for ‘everything’ (Posts, Pages, My Templates, Contact Styles, My Libary.)

    Thanks!

Awesome! Super easy, works like a charm, and silly of me to overlook such an obvious setting. Just threw you a positive review. Thanks very much!

@mddsharpp, thanks for getting back. In the meantime, I have installed AMP for WordPress. Just to see what would happen, I enabled all AMP post type(s) support: Posts, Pages, My Templates, Contact Styles, My Libary.

My contact form (Contact Form 7 + Contact Form 7 Style) was unaffected. In fact, my mobile site looks no different than before AMP, which is great (and unexpected!). The mobile site now loads much faster. According to https://testmysite.thinkwithgoogle.com/, My load time is “excellent” (3s) and my estimated visitor loss in low.

I am curious about a couple of things though. One, I imagine I only need to enable AMP for posts and pages, correct? Two, I was expecting to se an AMP badge next to my google search results, but it is not there. Google mytechguy calgary and you will see what I mean.

    Thanks again for your input!

I got to to work by adding the Plugin Exclusion and also setting Async JavaScript Method = Async and jQuery Method = Async

Thank you for your help! 🙂

@pingram3541 you’re awesome! Thanks so much for the detailed analysis. Clearly I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’ll digest your notes and try to fix the issue. Think I may be better off even re-doing the page from scratch.

    Thanks again 🙂

hmmm… I posted 4 days ago and no reponse from anyone. Is this the best spot to be posting detailed useage problems for Elementor? Can anyone suggest a better place for my question?

@mddsharpp that’s great advice and much appreciated. And if contact forms won’t render (and I can’t code), that’s the end of the AMP discussion.

What I really want is faster mobile load times. I’m at 4 sec, I need to be much closer to the nice 2 sec and under speeds I get on the desktop. Better SERP/SEO is a bonus, but speed comes first right now.

I’ve done lots of site optimaization already ( the right compression & caching plugins, manual .htaccess mods, CDN etc) when developing the desktop. Can you maybe point me in the right direction of what else I can do specifically for mobile speed?

Will submit a ticket right now.

Update: Yesterday I had the same issue with the “Really Simple SSL” plugin.

I will continue to update this thread with problem updates as they arise, in the hopes that this will assist with your troubleshooting. Thank you.

Also curious: Does this seems to be a litespeed plugin issue or an issue with litespeed servers?

Hello, thanks for your reply. Hopefully the following is the info you’re looking for. Note, assuming you have a test machine to try to reproduce the problem, you may need to wait for a new version of Yoast or Wordfence. This has been my experience with auto update problems with my live site. My particulars:

Hosting Panel: cPanel Hosting v.3.0,(c) CPanel 2018
    Host: WHC (Web hosting Canada)
    Type: Shared hosting, php 7.2
Legacy web server: Apache, php 7.x
    Current web server: Litespeed
    Upgrade date: Sept.25, 2018
    Legacy caching plugin: wpfastestcache
    Current caching plugin: Litespeed cache
Transition date: same day as server migration from Apache to Litespeed
Attempted resolution: modification to .ht access, tried both methods outlined in https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/system-requirements/litespeed/#if-litespeed-aborts-wordfence-scans-and-updates

If you need more detailed or other info, please let me know particulars. Thank you.

Looks like the problem is resolved. Coincided with a WordFence plugin updates. Looks like it was WordFence after all! Marking this thread as resolved, thanks for the help 🙂

Thank you. My gut tells me the issue is Litespeed, not Wordfence. Reasons for my hunch is the Litespeed timing I explained in my previous post. But I don’t have the deep technical knowledge you and your team would, mine is just a hunch. In any case, here is how I would troubleshoot the issue:

Run two identically configured WordPress environments on two servers, one Litespeed and one Apache. WordPress latest version, Plugins all latest versions of EUM, Wordfence, and a couple of random plugins that are known to update often (ex. Yoast, Smush, etc). Wait a couple of days or so until a plugin(s) is updated by EUM. Expected behaviour is correct updating of apps. Suspected (“hunch”) behaviour will be EUM email updates from Apache but not from Litespeed.

A quick word on Wordfence: after switching from Apache to Litespeed, it was wordfence that provided instructions the next day on how to modify .htaccess to ensure wordfence woukd run in the Litespeed environment. I provided a link to that explanation in my previous post.

Thanks for investigating and if could share your findings, I’d be very interested.

PS: I did not know that it was WordPress sending out autogenerated emails (instead of individual plugins), so that is good to know. In that case, I am having no auto-update problems with the EUM plugin. I have just stopped receiving the related email notifications.

I just thought of something, this might be relevant since I believe the issue is Litespeed not handling plugin auto-updates properly. So not a plugin bug, but a workaround needed to get the plugin to work with Litespeed. Case in point:

As mentioned, I use the WordFence plugin. The day after my host switched to Litespeed hosting, ** Wordfence auto-update stopped working **

I received a message with instructions on how to fix, see https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/system-requirements/litespeed/

I implemented the suggested .htaccess modifications, no further problems since then.

In the same article, they also talk about bypassing the LiteSpeed “noabort” check: If you are certain that your host uses LiteSpeed and that “External Application Abort” is set to “No Abort”, you can enable this option so that Wordfence will skip checking for “noabort” in .htaccess.

    More on noabort at https://www.wordfence.com/help/dashboard/options/#bypass-noabort

    Hope this helps?
