I had this issue too. It was Keyword Filtering at the global “Settings” level for me.
Tag Filtering is misleading. I thought it would filter any tag containing the words listed, but it actually just stopped the import completely for any feed item that had the tag in it.

I also had this issue. I couldn’t use another plugin while this was enabled.
I made the tweak you suggested above, keeping the other variables, and everything works now.
