In reply to: Slider stopped workingI can’t be sure but that looks like a commercial theme (Sky) with a built in slider. You’ll need to get in touch with the developers (Elegant Themes?) on whatever support channel they have made available to you. We aren’t able to assist with commercial products here.

In reply to: Flickr embed destroys post formattingHave you tried just linking the image so that WP can handle the embed for you?
Take a look at this page for exactly how that’s done, and just use the url from the share panel, not the html embed code.

In reply to: Login issues – booted me out and now I can't get back in!Sorry you’ve hit this snag. I know it’s frustrating.
the editor has no access to ‘Settings’ as you’d expect an Editor/Admin based user to have
It’s reasonable that an editor would not have the same capabilities as an admin, so that isn’t a surprise. Perhaps you could at least have them verify your email address to be sure about that part of it. If the editor is unable to help, they’ll have to go up the chain to the admin since you have no other recourse without access of your own (besides the ‘forgot password’ link). Good luck!

In reply to: Latest Posts Now Showing Up on Homepage (Do not Want)You’ve probably already done this, but I would first check
Settings > Readingto make sure your preference for the home page haven’t somehow changed. Otherwise I would ask about this in the support forum for the FAL plugin to see if they have any ideas for you. (There is a mention of incompatibility issues for recent versions but you haven’t made any changes, so that may not pertain.)You might also try disabling all plugins to see if it’s indeed a plugin issue. Good luck.

In reply to: White screenTest this with all plugins disabled to see if one is causing problems. If it clears up, start re-activating plugins one by one until you find the troublemaker.

In reply to: display header image on homepage onlyProbably best to ask about this in the support forum for the theme so that the theme authors and community can give you more specific suggestions. Good luck!

In reply to: 500 internal server error in Yahoo hostingHave you gotten something similar to this when trying to upgrade WP or plugins?:
error:0D0890A1:asn1 encoding routines:ASN1_verify:unknown message digest algorithm
If so, others with this error message in the past couple weeks have reported that Yahoo is running an outdated version of OpenSSL (with known security problems), and you may need to get in touch with your hosts. When a web host fails to keep up with security issues, it may be time to reassess.

In reply to: the latest update to WordPress core files screwed up my websitethe change was taking place in October First
The WP 4.3.1 update was released September 15th and was mostly security and bug fixes. You would have seen this problem before now if it was due to an auto-update of WP core, unless you have disabled auto-updates, but you said you made no manual changes.
according to an update in wordpress core files this was supposed to be migrating the Theme Options into the Customizer
The big changes to Customizer came in WP 4.3 back on August 18th.
I would try temporarily changing to a default WP theme like Twenty Fifteen to see if the footer comes back. If it does, you know it’s probably the theme and you should continue in the thread you started in the theme forum.
If not, try disabling plugins until you see some improvement. Be sure to clear your browser cache each time you make a change or else you might just see the old version.
I’m curious how you resolved the 4-month-old not-related incident of the disappearing footer?

In reply to: the latest update to WordPress core files screwed up my websitePlease don’t post multiple threads about the same issue. We all know how frustrating sudden problems can be, but there are limited numbers of volunteers here at any one time, and you have made it more difficult for us to help you. Patience please.

In reply to: the latest update to WordPress core files screwed up my websiteSo sorry you’re having trouble with your site today. I’m pretty sure there was no update to WP core files recently, but maybe one of your plugins or the theme did. Can you post a link to your site?
EDIT: Sorry, maybe you meant that you updated WP?

In reply to: compromised by options.php and a user named backupReally sorry to see this has happened to your site. Please start going carefully through the page below to understand what you need to do about it and how. I’m afraid there aren’t any shortcuts, so take it slowly so you can make sure nothing is left behind that will allow further problems. Best of luck!

In reply to: Categories Gone?I would start by disabling all plugins and then testing to see if they show up properly. If not, switch to a default WP theme like Twenty Fifteen and check again.
