… the problem goes away once on the remote server (Linux), so it’s possibly a Windows-specific problem? Either way, since it works where it matters, it’s not at all critical.

At the moment, I am running on a totally default WAMP 2.0 setup on my laptop.
To update this:
It seems there is a bug somewhere in the latest version (of either wordpress or ng gallery plugin).
To try and replicate:
1. install WP 2.7
2. install ng gallery 1.0.1
3. configure/setup etc as usual
4. create a gallery and choose ‘create new page’ — the created page has only the tag [nggallery id=x] (where x is the gid of the gallery)
5. view the page: the gallery does not display
6. add any text _below_ the tag in the page (it has to be below the tag) … the gallery will now display on the page.
Cheers,
Chris
