It is important to note that all the options in Language > Settings > URL modifications are showing ok. It seems that some Polylang functions are ignoring WP_HOME or WP_SITEURL and pointing the site’s root to / instead of /hostedsite/.

Disable the “auto-detect browser’s language” option in Polylang configuration. I stumbled upon this problem right now and nothing was working. I’m Brazilian but I use my computer in English and the main page should be in Portuguese, but it was always redirecting to English. When I disabled the auto-detection, the issue has gone.
