Resolved!
Ultimate Member has released a new update. Go ahead and install that. Then, go to Ultimate Member –> Settings –> Users. Deselect the option “Force display name to be capitalized?”
That resolved the issue for me.
I’ve submitted a support ticket at the Ultimate Member website. I’ll post an update when I hear back!

Unfortunately, this code doesn’t seem to work for me. I end up with blank user profiles. I’ll keep fiddling with it, and hopefully I’ll be able to make it work.
