Yes, we would love to add custom fields. But as per the Theme Review Guideline of WordPress.org, custom fields falls under plugin territory and we are not allowed to add in theme as default.

@consciousness: Yes change any value. You can do like adding links in social icons and then again removing it. Just any value you like.
We have already submitted update to WordPress.org. It will be alive as soon as reviewer approves it.
Just a note. Once you update the theme, you need to change any value in theme options panel and then refresh your browser to see the changes instantly. Otherwise it will take 24 hours cache.

Also building child theme is not that hard. You can check out http://catchthemes.com/blog/create-child-theme-wordpress/. We have included sample Child theme for your reference.
