@toughmudrunner/Simon – I’m by no means an expert on matters relating to domain name registration or indeed wordpress… and I am sure that there will be many more people on this forum that can provide you with the technical assistance that you are clearly asking for.
If I have read and understood your post correctly, you are not asking for legal advice (as @krishna understands it) but you require assistance regarding moving from your original domain name – http://www.toughmuddermechanics.com to another, as yet to be decided name, without actually changing the structure or content (other than name) of the site?
First things first…. Make a back up of your current wordpress installation – the following should provide a first point of call – . You can also ‘export’ your files from the wordpress admin dashboard (see tools>export).
Looking further into the Codex I came across this page – http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL
A further thought would be to contact your hosting company (did they also help with domain name registration!). The hosting companies are usually pretty helpful and knowledgable on these matters.
With regards to a re-direct… perhaps this is an opportunity to reach out to your 211 followers to engage further with them. Hopefully, you have their email addresses, if so, send an email, explain that the name of the site is changing and reference some things that you are looking to achieve in 2013 and you look forward to their continued support as you look to grow and develop your business. However, before doing this I would advise that you have the new domain registered & the site set-up, so that they have something to go to when you send out the emails.
I hope this information helps! But I do also hope that someone with much greater experience than I will also add to this post.
I also very much hope that an official moderator of wordpress (or someone who understands your question properly) will take it upon themselves to add to my comments.
Regards and goodluck

In reply to: frontend user created contentKrishna, they don’t answer my questions… they don’t even come close to answering my questions or any part of my original post.
I will close this post now. not because its resolved, but because I feel you have hijacked the topic, and the advice, at best, is inaccurate and misses the point.
I’m sure you are just trying to be ‘helpful’, but please remember, if you don’t have the experience then you should probably let someone else respond who does have the experience.

In reply to: frontend user created contentKrishna, both of your links make no sense. Both seem to refer to multisite installations but my query relates to one, single website… I am not looking to create a multisite installation of any type. Is it possible you have misread the original post or not understood the concept properly!
You do know that a single wordpress installation can have multiple user adding content! I’m sure you do, but have you ever created a website with multiple users adding content? This is what I am looking for assistance on… from someone that has been there and done it!

In reply to: frontend user created contentKrishna, can you explain your comment further. And have you put the correct link, because it doesn’t have any connection to the original post?
Thanks

In reply to: theme development issue with index.phpthanks alchymyth for your input, your suggestion has had helped to resolve the issue. Although, other issues are no popping up, all but one I have been able to resolve myself. The one remaining problem is the warning below.
Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, function ‘simpleblog_load_script’ not found or invalid function name in /home/my_name/public_html/my_site/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 403
from my un-educated eye, i think this may be some typo issue in one of the theme files I have created. I’ll get to the bottom of it!
to OurWebSupport… i’m not attempting to re-invent the wheel but i am trying to understand better how the wheel works! Starkers, and many others, are great starter themes (i have starkers already installed!), but for me, i find working through creating a theme from scratch is a great way to learn and understand how the templates and code fit together. Whilst the learning process I have chosen has created problems for me I choose to see these problems as opportunities to learn more about the wordpress environment.
Anyway, thanks both for your input.
