To date no plugins have been installed. There are just the two plugins that came with the package and they have not been installed. The user attempted to download a counter plugin and got the error message cited. The user attempted to down load a new theme and got the same error message. All of this has been attempted through the dash board. Further when the user logs into the admin section/dash board several of the componants are flowting.

the wp-config.php file is in /public_html. as is the wp-content folder.
permissions for the wp-content folder are as follows. plugins 0755,themes 0755,uploads 0777,index.php 0644. I don’t know if that helps ipstenu. I am looking for a way to correct this problem without having to do a new install as there have been several posts made to the site and the owner is disabled and goes through great pains to make a single post.

That said any help would be appreshated.

esmi thank you but that topic was of no help. From everything I can find this is a problem with fantastico installs. What I really need to know is if I can keep the config file created with fantastico and the db created and use them in a new manual install?

No changes have been made to any folders. In fact the wp-config.php file was hidden. This is an install of wordpress 3.0 and it appears that their maybe either something wrong with the file structure of that files are missing. Further checking out the nutenberg site (fantastico)it appears that I am not the only one with this problem.
