I had the same problem with a plugin that my host company doesn’t support for some reason.
Host 1and1.com – Plugin iPod theme.

I am new to wordpress as well but have an idea for you. Have you tried to download on of the ones from the wordpress “Add New Theme” yet? In admin panel > Appearance > Add New Theme.
Download one of those add see if it does the same thing.
