In reply to: Sub-directory site not showing themeHi Andrea,
I can’t thank you and the other guys enough for all of your help.I think that maybe some of these details could be incorporated into the next edition of your excellent “Creating a Network in WordPress 3.1” manual, as it would certainly fill in a lot of blank spots for intermediate users like myself.
Thanks again for all that you do for this forum and the WordPress community!

In reply to: Sub-directory site not showing themeAndrea,
you are not going to believe this, but WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin has completely disappeared from my list of plugins. If I look at the plugins folder via ftp, I can see it right there. I deleted it and reistalled it a few times but it still didn’t show. I’m scouring this forum and google to find a solution to this, and apparently, I’m not alone.Meanwhile, I went to godaddy and found the section where I would configure the A record.
Thanks again for your help. I’ll report back here as soon as I have the network up and running successfully.

In reply to: Sub-directory site not showing themeHi Andrea,
thanks a bunch for all of your help. I went ahead and put in the correct protocols into the DNS Record section, and still can’t get it to work. I was aware of Otto’s site, and it helped me to configure the plugin earlier. It seems as if I may just have to go the long route of installing WP for each domain (arrrrghhhh!!). I am not usually whipped by stuff like this, but this one is a bear, and I’ve been fighting with it all day.If you have any more suggestions, I’m all ears. Thanks again for all of your help.

In reply to: Sub-directory site not showing themeThanks for the rapid response, guys!
I contacted my hosting company, and got a rep that knew nothing about WP mulitsite, so he was of no help. I’m trying to figure it out myself, but I am not sure what the proper input is in the DNS Zone Editor>Add DNS Record of my Cpanel – and their instructions are a bit cryptic.
Here’s where I’m stuck:
1)Under “Select a domain” – I’m thinking that I need to select my sub-directory’s_domain.com, or should it be my main_domain.com?
2)DNS Type: Should I select ‘A’ or ‘CNAME’?
3)Host Record & Points To: if I input my server IP as Host Record and then Point To is ‘sub-directory_domain.com’, wouldn’t that make my sub site become my main site, and how do I distinguish different sites, since they will all have the same server IP? It seems as though the server IP is the only input that the field will accept, or there is a correct syntax for entering the sub domain that I am unaware of. Very confused here.
Once I work these bugs out I can then plunge ahead with setting up additional sites.
Thanks again for your all of your help!

In reply to: Can't remove background image in Twenty TenThat’s exactly what the problem was! Thanks a bunch!!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Fatal Error on link-template.php on line 274I had the same problem, and realized that there was a conflict between Theme-my-Login and S2Member. I had just installed theme my login after using S2Member for a while, so I removed Theme-my-Login by FTP with Filezilla. Everything worked properly after that. Hope this helps.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [StatSurfer] [Plugin: StatSurfer] v 1.2 errorsI deleted it using Filezilla, and then was able to login and use dashboard normally. All is well now. Hope this helps.

In reply to: Multisite – Can't change theme on main siteThanks, Andrea!
I did exactly as you directed, and it worked like a charm! Strangely, I did not have any of the themes selected in Super Admin>Sites>Edit.
Hope this helps others as well.

In reply to: Multisite: Installed to root – site won't displayI went into my cpanel and setup the CNAME on the main domain like so:
Name: test.domain.com
Type: CNAME
CNAME: test.domain.comResults:
-When I typed in the subdomain into the url, it returns a “Server not found” message.-When I use the “www” prefix with the subdomain, it returns the webhost’s default landing page, as before.
I contacted the webhost, and the rep checked the setup and said it was OK. Did I overlook something?
Thanks again for the help!

In reply to: Multisite: Same links and widgets on all child sites? Thanks for the replies!
Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Multisite: Same links and widgets on all child sites?hardcode it in the theme itself.
Hmmm. What if I had, let’s say 20 theme options for them to choose from, would I have to code each of those themes as well, or just the parent theme?

In reply to: Multisite: Same links and widgets on all child sites? Thanks Sayze35 and Andrea.
I will most definitely surpass the 40 site mark. Andera, is there a block of code that you could refer me to, with some instructions on how/where to put and configure it?
Thanks!!
