In reply to: Homepage shows ALL posts!Boutwell,
is there a way for you to see if on your previous installation all posts had been entered as ‘sticky’?
This seems to be what the issue was in the end for me… it’s a bit shameful I didn’t work this out earlier, but thought I’d share nonetheless!

In reply to: All posts displaying in homepageSooooooo.
The issue here was actually that the client was making ALL posts ‘sticky’.
Bit embarrassing, but thought I’d share, just in case anyone else encounters this.

In reply to: All posts displaying in homepageUnfortunately not. I tried exporting the posts from the current blog and importing to another one of my wp installations – whatever the error is, it gets written to the new database.
If I cut and paste the content directly from the post, the problem is eradicated.
It’s not the greatest solution, but the client is at the end of their budgetary tether, so I cannot afford to investigate it any longer & need to provide a (relatively) simple work-around for them.

In reply to: All posts displaying in homepageHaving followed the other thread, both the other user and I have come to the conclusion that this is a database error.
I’m creating a fresh installation and copying the posts over manually.
Thanks.

In reply to: Homepage shows ALL posts!Incidentally – just a hunch: are you hosting with godaddy?

In reply to: Homepage shows ALL posts!Ouch… You mean you created a fresh db and will now be manually importing the posts?
That sucks! I guess I’d better make a big pot of coffee.

In reply to: Homepage shows ALL posts!I’ve just made the install on another server to test. Same issue – this must be an issue at the database level?
Maybe the database hasn’t generated ID#s or date stamps?

In reply to: Homepage shows ALL posts!I’ve had exactly the same issue with a recent installation. I’m hoping to avoid reformatting the server with a new installation… will report back if I find anything of use!

In reply to: All posts displaying in homepageThanks for taking the time to respond. Hopefully we get a resolution – if I can work something out, short of reinstalling the whole thing, I will post back in both threads.
Cheers,

In reply to: All posts display on one pageJust to update – not a database issue.
I’m thinking it’s a query problem maybe?

In reply to: All posts display on one pageActually, I haven’t done that. I’ll give that a go, thanks.

In reply to: All posts display on one pageHi there,
thanks – yep, I ran 20/10 and a couple of others… same deal. Also, I’ve tested this theme on another server with dummy content & the posts display & can be limited in the usual manner.
There’s something weird going on as the tab on the right which shows ‘popular posts’ has been limited to 12 posts – yet this is also displaying everything.
The posts themselves are not showing in chronological order either & when you paginate through the pages (at the bottom of homepage) you get the same posts on every page.
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
brutus

In reply to: All posts displaying in homepageThis chap seemed to have the same issue… annoyingly there was no resolution to the problem!
No changes to code yet, I guess I need to start investigating that.
Thanks for your responses!
[No bumping, thank you.]

In reply to: All posts displaying in homepageIt’s the Avenue theme.
Pretty sure it’s not the theme, as we were experiencing this issue with the previous bog standard 20/10 theme.
Not a plugin issue either as I’ve deactivated everything before.
Also updated to the latest version of wp earlier & still no change.
