In reply to: Sorry, you need to enable sending referrersthere were windows updates, yes – and it wouldn’t be too crazy to assume that my readers also ran updates. i’ve disabled the XP firewall and that doesn’t seem to have an effect. blog is at http://thejayhawk.com if you want to see how very little happens when you submit a comment. i don’t know.. =(

In reply to: Sorry, you need to enable sending referrerswell, i’ve read through the numerous threads regarding this issue and it appears that the vast majority of problems revolve around software firewalls. i don’t run any 3rd party firewalls – just the windowsXP firewall. i have made no changes to my firewall, wordpress configuration, or my browser – and then one day all of the sudden my readers start telling me they can’t post comments anymore. i check it out and i can’t either. i try, upon a suggestion here in the forums, to change to another theme in case there is a problem with comments.php and *that* is when i get the “Sorry, you need to enable sending referrers, for this feature to work” message. i can’t seem to do anything.
i’ve tried using IE (same error), tried disabling the XP firewall (same error), tried modifying my firefox’s about:config (same error).. i’m out of ideas. any suggestions? drop me a line at bodhi@sunflower.com if you can help. thanks!

In reply to: error connecting to databasethanks for the suggestion – i tried it with no luck. i logged into the MySQL database and all the info is there. i wonder how hard it would be to dump everything and restore it. i guess that depends on how my host is set up. i have all my wp config stuff saved, and i have the MySQL database backed up.. i guess i can try to figure out how to restore it. =(
