In reply to: All posts displaying in all categoriesLorelle had given me a link to see what I could do through editing the query posts function. That seems to have done the trick. But thanks for the plugin recommend and your quick responses.
I cannot tell you how many of the plugins I’ve tried do nothing except break the display. Grrrr.
I’m crossing my fingers and marking this as Resolved.

In reply to: All posts displaying in all categoriesIt’s the Ultimate Category Excluder causing the multiple posts. Dammit, I need that plugin. Is there something else that serves the same function out there?

In reply to: All posts displaying in all categoriesI’ll do that. I’ve had lots of problems with plugins functioning properly before now — wonder if one of them isn’t breaking the entire shebang?
Um, 14 categories. It used to have a lot more, but I’ve refocused the site. Wonder if you’re seeing the old display, and if so, why?

In reply to: All posts displaying in all categoriesGood question. Yes, it does, in both default and classic.
Here’s a link to the site. It isn’t live yet.

In reply to: Articles on different pagesOn further examination, the static page option isn’t what I want, unless I create a separate page for display as the home page. There’s gotta be a better way.

In reply to: Articles on different pagesOn further reading, I find that I can set the front page as static from the Reading Options panel — you already knew that, but I didn’t. Is this what I’m looking for?

In reply to: 2.2.0 Dashboard returning 501It was on my host’s end, not a WP problem for me, and he fixed it. Thanks. I will suggest that my host upgrade to the current version.

In reply to: Articles on different pagesI have a related question. Fess up first: I am a complete noob with PHP (i.e. I’m not even sure where the above code from Doodlebee’s post would go) and a near-noob to WP, though I am very comfortable with HTML and CSS.
I don’t want ANY posts to go on the front page/current information except the specific ones I put there. I plan on using WP more as a CMS than as a blog, so there isn’t a reason for the tons of content I plan on shoveling into my categories to appear on the front page. I suppose I could stick that above-listed code in (wherever it goes…duh) and just list every single category in the in_category list, but that seems a bit blunt. Is there an easier way?

In reply to: 2.2.0 Dashboard returning 501I’m having the same problem. Hope someone can direct us to the fix.
