In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsThanks, but we updated to a new version of libssh2 and it did not fix it. I am not clear on what you are suggesting.

In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsQuick update. We noticed a PHP warning in our server logs on Friday referring to the libssh2 version. We upgraded to libssh2/1.4.2 and the corresponding PHP module and that quieted the warnings.
Unfortunately, that did not resolve either the 502 issue or the General Settings page dying halfway through. Only the “SSH SFTP Updater Support” plugin did. Even after the update to libssh2, if we turn off the plugin, the 502s return for theme or plugin deletions and the General Settings page gets cut off again.

In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsThanks. What is odd is that this new test install we did on that server is the only install on that server getting those errors for the language field. Other installs where we updated to 4.1 and then used the SSH SFTP Updater Support work fine. Go figure.
Regardless, we’ll review and update the server as needed. Thanks to everyone for their help.

In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsThank you! SSH SFTP Updater Support seems to have fixed the issue for me. I can even see the full General Settings page now.
The only issue I see now is the General Settings > Site Language field is spewing code like” “Strict Standards: Declaration of WP_Filesystem_SSH2::delete() should be compatible with WP_Filesystem_Base::delete($file, $recursive = false, $type = false) in /disk1/…

In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsQuick update. We did a fresh install of 4.0.1. Checked General Settings page and all fields there. Touched nothing else. Updated to version 4.1. Now, half the fields in General Settings are gone as is the Save Changes button. Also, 502 when trying to delete a theme or a plugin.
Another untouched version of 4.0.1 (we did three fresh installs to test) still has its full General Settings fields and I can still delete themes and plugins from it.

In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsThanks. We also tried a brand new install of 4.1 in a new directory that had only the Akismet plugin because it came with WP and also this hello dolly thing. I deleted both at the server level.
Tried to delete a WP theme. 502. Installed Contact Form 7 and then tried to delete it. 502.
Just as an aside since it was brought up: General settings page had all the options and a save changes button in the new 4.1 install. Logged out and back in. Half the options gone. Saved changes button gone.
We just completed a new install of 4.0.1 on the same server. Deleted a theme, deleted a plugin, no problem. Note we also use SSH2.

In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsThanks, dlmeyer. I have another post in the forum for the issues we are also having with half of the General Settings page missing and no Save Changes button there.

In reply to: WP 4.1 – 502 Bad Gateway when deleting themes or pluginsThanks. I figured that as well. We are the host as we maintain several of our own servers. I had my lead tech look into it but he says it is a WordPress issue. It would be a pretty big coincidence if it wasn’t because we did not have this issue before we upgraded to 4.1 and made no other changes on the server.
I did all the things recommended by Tara above, including a fresh 4.1 install running twenty-fifteen, with no plugins but Akismet which came with it. I deleted that plugin manually via SFTP. I then installed Contact Form 7 just to test. Installed fine. Tried to delete, 502.
Also, local browser caches all cleared. No luck. Any other advice on how to troubleshoot it would be appreciated.

In reply to: Save Changes Button and Several Fields Missing on General SettingsIt looks like the General Settings page just dies after the time zone pulldown menu. I’ve had a browser crash in Chrome a couple of times while on the page also.
Tried it with a fresh install of WP and the General Settings page loads fine the first time (has all the fields, the save button) but log out and back in and the button and fields are gone again.

In reply to: Save Changes Button and Several Fields Missing on General SettingsThanks for your note. I can delete and upload via FTP with no issues. I can also install via WP. It is just the delete that is not working within WP.
Also, the other issue has me baffled with the missing fields/button in the General Settings. Looks like others have had the issue too but I have not found a solution. I cleared out the database and the Save changes button did come back only to disappear again. Weird.
Did not have any of these issues before 4.1.
