In reply to: Add a second blog to my page?I’ve just discovered that this is a plugin. It doesn’t mention that it’s compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Ugh. This stuff is confusing.

In reply to: Add a second blog to my page? This is great help, but I can’t find the field you mention called “Page links to ….” Nothing like that exists. How do I paste the URL for the category I created so that the page automatically shows my blog posts specific to that category? Thanks.

In reply to: Newbie ~ Customizing Themes and DesignBig Moose here …
I’m learning more and more as each hour passes. The developer page you linked to gave me some good insights, thanks, and I’m now better understanding that many of these themes (if not all?) are completely open to tinkering with the stylesheet. I was under the impression that they were somehow locked, because so many say things like, “Five color schemes are available and two layouts.” But if I have access to the stylesheet, then the possibilities are pretty wide open.
The only other concern is placement of widgets and whatnots. That would involve access to the main index or whatever it’s called on WordPress. Any ideas on how to do that?
Thanks, esmi!!

In reply to: The Best FREE WordPress Themes ~ Your Favorites? This was a great discovery today:
http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/I’m loving that they help demystify this stuff a bit by offering a pretty thorough description of the different themes like Graphene and how will they stand up to abuse and testing. This is such a different world than other blogging platforms, but I it’s worth hanging in there and figuring things out. I’ve had friends tell me that WordPress rocks, but for their basic needs they are kind of flying blind and haven’t ever stepping into the forums. On the business front, though, you need to know at least some of the why’s and how’s to your website, so that’s why I’m going to keep asking questions and doing my research.

In reply to: Newbie ~ Customizing Themes and DesignThis is really beginning to confuse me. I feel kind of frozen in place, unsure of what to do. All I have in place is the free theme that comes with all new WP blogs. I would really welcome some links to WP bloggers and articles on how to select a sound theme and tweak the design to my needs. Thanks!

In reply to: Newbie ~ Customizing Themes and DesignThanks for the link. That gives me some good insight on how WordPress is structured.
But what about being able to tweak an existing theme? I have found a few that would work well for me, but the spacing needs to be adjusted here and there, font colors and whatnot adjusted, and other design elements changed.
How can I do this without having to build a theme from the ground up?
