    You are absolutely right … for information concerning usage statistics you can ‘rely’ on websites like this .

    Nevertheless the overall amount of registered users gives you a hint of how many people are interested in -in this case- WP, how many took the time to fill out the registration form, took the time to come to this website to get involved/informed or what so ever. Since you cannot rely on the number of visitors (came by accidentally), this very number is a basis you can work with or proof relations compared to other empiric researches.

    (I know, that there are some who just registered and never came back, but as I said – you got these issues on other sites as well)

    As I said in my earlier post: it is just for some statistical data.

    Since you got this issues with spammers or one shot logins on every other platform as well, it kind of makes them all comparable.

    It is just a number … let’s say for a starting point to dig deeper from – but still mentionable.

    I am looking for the amount of registered users to the wordpress.org-forums. Just the very number … nothing about average postings or activity status … Thanks!
