Thank you. I tried the permalink structure as the directions explained to but even though those are correct I still got the error.
I also did view the .htaccess file but it looked correct as well.
What I did was a work around so the site could work. It was fine in the other directory on the same server, but once I moved it to the root I received the forbidden error. So I used the document that showed how to have the index.php and the .htaccess on the root and the core files, etc. of the wordpress in another directory and it works again. So I am not sure what the problem was but thank you for all of your help.
