Strange indeed. Thanks for the additional info. I have questions about the translation of a plugin we just released (using translate.wordpress.org versus including my own mo/po files in the plugin languages directory). Where would you suggest I try posting it?

I was using Chrome before. I just tried with Firefox and I get the same problem.
This post worked, but the one I was trying to post (inside “Plugins and Hacks”) won’t post. the page that appears after posting just shows a Reply link on the left and the right sidebar on the right. I’ve tried clearing cache, private browser.
