Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Use of period “.” in slugs and permalinksYes the appeal of using the “.” Is explicitly to differentiate it from a hyphen. The regex would be based off of any periods afterthe domain. I believe there’s already a common expression to match on domain

In reply to: Use of period “.” in slugs and permalinksThank you Ed. I am really speaking about using a period AFTER the domain, specifically in the path or parameters. Example.com/action.sell
S could I recommend that you allow/enable embedded (recursive) snippets
There were no spaces in the snippet, but if I ever edited the content where the snippet was used either the editor or parser or something was adding spaces.
Are snippets designed to be able to be embedded within other snippets recursively?
The posting stripped out the examples I write above, but they were supped to be
<a href="[myprotocol][mydomain]/[mypath]?[myparameters]">[mytext]</a> andYour right. Don’t fix it.
Here’s a thought….Why dont you install the plugin I used that causes the conflict and figure out what needs to be done to address this? I mean I shared ALL of the information required to address it: A video showing how to reproduce the issue, the names of the plugins. Everyone should thank me not flame me. The fact that the plugin has a free version means there are that many more people being affected. I have done my part: I have identified the issue, reproduced it, recorded it, and brought it to everyone’s attention. I cant do anything more.
This is insane. I have shown that there is an issue. Support has acknowledged it. Its not a priority to them. I cant wait, and I am not going to keep going back to suddenly discover that I lost stuff and I will have to find fix and restore my content (for the umpteenth time). Forget about content that I am not even aware of having lost. Have a good night
What the heck do you want me to do? Say how great it is except for the fact that its deleting my content? I was using Elementor until under 3 specific circumstances I found the same destructive problem. No one helped me discover it, I found the issue after their customer service told me I had to figure it out. So I did. This is not about a bad display, or something that doesnt work, or something crashing. This is about something insidiously ALTERING content that took me months to compose, and doing so without my knowing. Im not the only one! I saw at least 3 other posts about this. I would really appreciate if you just solved the issue instead of posting this crap that doesnt help any of us. Want us to all be happy? Address the really bad issues and make it more stable, and stop criticizing me for bringing this to their attention. Its serious.
I am not saying Elementor caused this. I am saying that Elementor designed their product with a vulnerability to something related to taxonomy and its getting affected by more than 1 plugins. The plugins/shortcodes filter by taxonomy which is a “select”, or “query” which just asks for a result. It does not update. However, Elementor DOES update, which is why it becomes Elementor’s issue. Elementor’s design leaves it open to corruption from other plugins etc that merely query taxonomy. The person I was corresponding with at Elementor CONFIRMED the issue, but said it would not be fixed. The problem is that the result is so damaging that if this is not addressed I and many others will not risk loss and corruption of content just to use a tool. That there is a free offering is insignificant. I would pay for the paid version if it was solid. But its not
This is not meant to be inflammatory, but Ill tell you when a problem alters content which can be lost forever its really serious. I would not have posted this as strongly if I didnt experience it with more then 3 plugins. That means that most plugin makers are thinking about a solution in a different way then Elementor. I submitted this issue to Elementor when I first discovered it and was told this wont be fixed any time soon. After the 3rd plugin that I encountered that played part in this problemI had to give up because I was losing content. For the life of me I cant see how a page designer can be a part of altering posts that have no relation to the one being edited. There is a pattern here, and regardless I cant risk losing content, can you?
At this moment Elementor is not stable. There are way too many bugs in the support queue.
That was not my conclusion. Conclusion is that Elementor has taken an approach that leaves our websites vulnerable to permanent breakage when we want to filter posts by taxonomy. The fact that almost any taxonomy filter alters my content unknowingly and permanently without a way to revert acres the crap out of me. I finished Elementor door siteorigin because it’s too serious (I’m losing content) and just as in the above response Elementor is pushing the blame and the fix on others instead of resolving.
I had the same thing when a category filter display plugin I was using was installed and then I went to edit something in Elementor
