In reply to: Twenty Thirteen Theme – can't use register_sidebar in child themeI would like to do exactly what 008Rohit has done but would appreciate some guidence. I have done some editing of themes but I do not know how to add a footer-blank.php and a page-‘id’.php and made the page-‘id’.php load the custom footer-blank.php instead of the theme’s footer-main.php
Could anyone guide me please
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: news / magazine themeHi
Thanks, I have been experimenting most of the night. The problem I was having was the theme was in a folder within a folder which I have not come across before so it was not loading as it should. Learnt a lot tonight about changing logos and where they hide.
Can’t get my head around the following though
http://www.der-prinz.com/2008/04/01/branford-magazine-use-blogname-instead-of-a-logo/
both seem the same to me. I could work out the css changes. In the end I found the Blandford heading, downloaded it to photoshop and then changed it

Thanks everyone. I like the look of the Brandford one but when I go through the normal method of loading a theme wordpress does not then seem to see it, really strange

In reply to: Created DB, had to reinstall…how to get content back?Hi
Hope no one minds me jumping in and asking questions relating to this topic. I started my blog in a folder on my business site. I then purchased a domain name and forwarded it to that folder.I have now bought dedicated space for the domain name and want to transfer the blog to that. I have looked at the link but wondered if I could confirm my basic understanding.
1) I need to set up a database
2) I need to upload wordpress to the new space
3) I need to back up my old blog and old database to my hard drive
4) I need to update the old blog and database tothe new spaceIs this enough or do I need to edit certain files
sorry to be thick
