In reply to: WordPress auto upgrade can't connectThanks for the reply jnhghy 🙂
After I did the chown command, everything worked perfectly. Is this a secure way to leave things, or do I need to change it back to what it originally was?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Set posts per page category to oneI found a plugin called Custom Post Limits that does the job nicely.
Custom Post Limits > Settings > Categories Limit > Show individual categories limit > Set “Free Arb Bets” = 1 > Save Changes. Done!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Set posts per page category to oneThanks for the reply. I’ll have a look at that. I’ll keep this thread open for a while in case anyone knows of a plugin that would help.

In reply to: Javascript not working in postsUpdate: I’ve been using firefox for all my testing. When I tested using google chrome and internet explorer….it worked! I didn’t think to test in a different browser, sorry. I have no idea why it isn’t working in firefox, is it just on my computer or is it on all firefox browsers?
Anyway, my original question still stands, I’m still looking for a good way to get javascript working in posts. There must be a standard way that most people use successfully, right?

In reply to: Display each category of posts on different pagesI’ve created a custom link and added it to my navigation menu. Everything now works exactly how I want 🙂
Thanks again keesiemeijer, you’ve been a great help!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Display each category of posts on different pagesStill not working. Here’s what I’m trying to do:
I went to wp-admin > Posts > Categories > Free Arb Bet > View.
This sends me to this url: http://www.arbzilla.com/category/free-arb-bet/
I understand that this is the page where all of my posts that have a category of “free arb bet” will go.When someone clicks “Free Arb Bet” from the Navigation Menu I want them to be sent to that page, but it doesn’t work because my navigation menu is pointing to http://www.arbzilla.com/free-arb-bet/
I’ve tried fixing this by going to wp-admin > Pages > Free Arb Bet > Edit > Change permalink path. This doesn’t work because WordPress strips away the /, leaving me with http://www.arbzilla.com/categoryfree-arb-bet/
What am I doing wrong? All I want is for my navigation menu item called “Free Arb Bet” to direct me to my page which contains all my posts with a category of “free arb bet”.

In reply to: Display each category of posts on different pagesOk. I think categories make a bit more sense to me now. I was thinking in a different direction. I’m going to do a few tests to see if I can get it working the way I want. If successful, I’ll post back here to mark the thread resolved, otherwise I’ll post here again.
Thanks very much for taking the time to help me, I appreciate it 🙂Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Display each category of posts on different pagesActually, there’s also a “category.php” template, but it doesn’t appear in my list of templates when I’m creating a page. Maybe if I edit this file to make it appear on my list?

In reply to: Display each category of posts on different pagesYes, there’s a “categories.php” template, but I’m not sure how to use it to achieve my goal.
I want all my posts (various categories) to be filtered to the relevant page: posts categorised with “free bets” should appear only in the “free bets” page, posts categorised with “tutorials” should appear only in the “tutorial” page, etc. At the moment I don’t seem to be able to seperate the post categories so that the relevant posts are displayed on the relevant page.
Sorry if I’m misunderstanding you, I’m new to WordPress.
