I have already discovered this article previously and tried the suggestions outlined there. Sadly it did not work.
Also changing the Theme did not work either. However I am not sure how this is connected, since the issue happens whithin the wp-admin backend. So the theme shouldnt interfere in any way, right?

I am having the same issue. I have noticed it only happens on specific providers. One of my clients website is hosted by one.com. It doenst work there. only shows the blank “blocked” page. It works on my local machine though… and on my website provider (world4you). I have contacted one.com support. they couldnt help
The page doesn’t reload because if the NextGEN. It reloads because the href property for this link started with a “www.” which makes advanced ajax loader think that you’re accessing an external website.
However NextGEN does have a problem with AAPL. If you go to Melonia and click one of the images it opens the image and doesn’t load the NextGEN lightbox. If you reload the page though, it does show the Lightbox. This must mean that NextGEN is initializing itself on pageload. I hope it helps 🙂
